HOSPICE 15TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

History, Heart & Honor… Hats off to the Homeland Hospice 15th is a celebration that will mark 15 years of providing exceptional end-of-life care to those we serve and pay tribute to over 157 years of caring for our community.

The event will honor Homeland’s history, the history of the hospice movement, our hospice patients and families – and particularly the Veterans we’ve served and all Veterans in Central Pennsylvania. We also will honor and share stories of our team members who provide exceptional care with what we like to call “The Heart of Hospice.”

History, Heart & Honor will be held Saturday, November 23, at Scottish Rite Cathedral in Harrisburg and will appeal to ALL age groups and people from ALL walks of life. Don your best denim and wear a hat! We hope you’ll celebrate with us.

Tickets are now available. Plus, 300 complimentary tickets are available for Veterans!

"The small things you do, the smiles you share, the comfort
you provide – that's what makes a difference."

STORYTELLING AND MUSIC

INSPIRING & UPLIFTING
LIVE PERFORMANCES

Live performances will put the heart in our special History, Heart & Honor event, with storytelling that will touch your soul and music that will send your spirits soaring.

Decorated veteran-turned-country singer-songwriter Keni Thomas headlines the celebration. You’ll be captivated by Keni’s personal account and life lessons from when he served as a U.S. Army Ranger in the chaotic Battle of Mogadishu (also known as the Black Hawk Down Incident) in Somalia. You’ll then be inspired by Keni’s powerful vocals and heartfelt lyrics, as he performs his own music featuring themes of patriotism and perseverance in the face of life’s challenges.

Opening for Keni will be singing historian Roy Justice, who will perform a folk-style song about Homeland’s history written especially for this occasion. Roy’s interest in music, history, and storytelling comes from his own historical ancestry. He is a distant cousin to the Civil War poet and musician Sydney Lanier, and his paternal Great-Grandmother was a well-known storyteller in Ashville, NC. Additionally, Roy’s maternal Great-Grandfather was a recognized tap dancer in New York City, who performed (according to family anecdotes) with the great entertainer George M. Cohan!

Homeland Hospice

Making the most of
every moment

Hospice is a philosophy of care appropriate when a medical cure is no longer possible or a decision to stop aggressive treatment has been made.

Homeland Hospice helps patients live as fully and comfortably as possible by providing symptom and pain relief; care services and therapies; spiritual support; and on-call support. We address patient and family needs with the utmost compassion, and help families make the most of every precious moment together.

Families can request a hospice evaluation when a family member is diagnosed with a life-limiting illness. A caring and compassionate Homeland Hospice team member will meet with the patient, family and the patient’s physician to discuss all available options and develop a plan of care centered on the patient’s wishes.

Patients can receive hospice care anywhere they call “home” – in their residence, a personal care community or a skilled nursing facility.
